"So take this broken offering and make me whole,
Set my feet upon the road that leads me home,
let me walk as one fixed upon the goal,
even though I've got a thousand miles to go..."

Some good questions about global warming...if anyone finds a response piece answering these questions, I'd truly love to read it!

I hate this excuse...

...but I've been too busy to post much! Usually I write my lovely, inspiring entries at work but lately there just hasn't been time. Financial aid packages have gone out, so everyone is calling about those. I'm trying to keep up with my normal, constant projects but always get new stuff thrown my way, too. It's challenging and makes the days go by really quickly so I'm not complaining - though the pressure to get a big incoming class is really mounting.

Our "new home" project is taking up most of my spare time. We've settled on building rather than purchasing an existing home and have turned our attention to finding the right piece of property. We thought we had one all picked out, but it looks like it's not going to work for a couple of reasons, but mainly because we would not be able to put in a basement without some serious excavating to build up the land. We're still exploring it, but it's probably not THE place for us. We have another lot to look at, though, so I'll keep you posted.

Upcoming plans: Ross and Caitlin's wedding, some biking and a get-together with a high school friend this weekend. Should be fun! Current demand on my time: another meeting. Lovely.

Backlog

As is the case with the rest of my life, it's time to play catch-up on my blog!

1. Our vacation with Tim and Anna was amazing! They must've called in a divine favor, because we had near-perfect weather: 70s and sunny, with only one night of rain. While all the volleyball we played was fun (my knees are still all bruised up almost a week later), one of the highlights was definitely getting out on our bikes and riding some trails. In total, we rode four of the six days we were there, both on relaxing paved trails and most intense mountain bike trails. Tim also introduced us to Frisbee golf, a pasttime I'd heard about but never experienced. It was fun, but I was terrible at it! Let's see, we also went to the movies, played games, and just caught up with each other in general. Pete met us in Chapel Hill one night for volleyball, and it was great to see him, too. Tim, when you read this, thanks again for an awesome week!

2. Work is insane - I spent about six hours in the office on the Monday we returned from North Carolina before packing up and heading downstate for a week of college fairs. It's been nice to be able to sleep in and work at my own pace during the day, but I really need some time in the office to catch up and call my kids! Financial aid packages will come out soon and that's always a busy, stressful time.

3. Obviously, since we've been gone, Mitch and I have not checked the housing market in a couple of weeks, so there's nothing new to report there. We are going to a home builders expo on Saturday, because though it is currently more expensive, we're thinking we might need to build a home to get what we want.

OK, that should do for now. Nothing terribly exciting - I'll try to post some NC pics when I get them off my camera, though!
